HISTORY

The First Baptist Church of Vineyard Haven was founded in 1780. Since that time, it has shared the good news of Jesus Christ in word and deed in our island community. We are affiliated with the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts and the American Baptist Churches USA. The church is open to all who seek God's Spirit. We are a diverse community of people joined together by our love of God and our seeking God’s presence in our lives. Our worship services and communion are open to all! We are respectful of each others opinions and how God speaks to each of us as individuals. At the same time we are mindful that we have been called together for a greater purpose than any of us could do alone.
